Callaway Supersoft Golf Balls Review: My Experience with the Softest Ball in the Game

Here I described how the Callaway Supersoft performed in different areas during my game.

Off the Tee: Straight and Long

The Supersoft is designed for low spin. As a result, even when my swing was not perfect, my drives rarely veered into wild slices or hooks. For anyone who struggles with control, these balls are really forgiving. They help you stay in the fairway. The reduced side spin allowed me to play a cleaner and more consistent game, and I appreciate the quality and consistency of the ball.

With Irons: Effortless Flight and Good Distance

During my iron shots, I found the Supersoft had a slightly higher ball flight. But the impressive part is this extra flight doesn’t limit or sacrifice the distance of the ball. The HEX Aerodynamics Callaway added is no gimmick—it’s a game-changer. I personally didn’t face any problems due to the flight of the ball; my ball always traveled very nicely. For new players or those with a weaker swing like me, this higher trajectory was a plus. I didn’t have to over-swing to reach my desired distance.

Around the Green: Soft but Roll-Friendly

The softness of the Supersoft really shines around the greens. With pitch and chip shots, I felt I had great control on the ball. The ball gave me just the right amount of response off the clubface. However, as this is a reduced-spin ball, it tended to roll out more than other premium options like ProV1. For me, the extra roll didn’t create much difficulty. It just took a few sets for me to adjust to the extra roll of the Supersoft.

One interesting thing I found was that putts with the Supersoft feel so satisfying. The soft feel produces a more muted sound you’re not used to. As a result, it helped me improve my touch on the green.

Durability: Better Than I Expected

I’ve played multiple rounds with a single Callaway Supersoft. Overall, I was really impressed with its durability. After plenty of drives, the balls were mostly scuff-free and scratch-free even after brushing up against trees, paths, or bunkers. The matte finish of the balls also helps keep them visible, so players like me can easily spot the ball after sending it into the rough.

Color Variety: Something for Everyone

One of my favorite things about the Callaway Supersoft is the variety of eye-soothing colors. I tried the Matte Green and Yellow ones. Due to the color, tracking the ball’s flight and locating it became much easier for me, especially during cloudy days or when playing into tougher terrain. For these reasons, I would recommend the bright matte options.
